Who wants to join us in OBX(hatteras) 10/3 to 10/24?!!

Post by chillin » Fri Aug 27, 2010 3:34 pm

Well, finally got my schedule for October so I can officially announce a trip to the OBX area in October. I am going to be renting a 3 bedroom house for 3 weeks. Leaving Chicago on Oct 3rd and checking out on the 24th.

So far it is myself and Amanda (liketokite) lucky enough to pull off all 3 weeks. Two rooms and a pull out sofa are up for grabs. Got several other good peeps definitely coming for a week at time but still working on the exact dates! I am going to wait a few days to start gauging interest before locking into the house as there are plenty of bigger homes if we get enough people. The house looks quite nice all the way down to the hot tub for relaxing after ripping it up day after day.

I'm thinking it is going to be $250 per room/ week! Hoping to fill it with crew from here. If interested post up here or feel free to PM, or call me. I will do my best to help organize ride sharing, etc with anyone looking at similar dates.

Stephen

It's official the link above is the house I booked! Not quite as nice as some but still quite nice and the price is right! Also wanted to add that if anyone is looking for stays more or less than a full week let me know and I will figure out appropriate prices.

I'm in for two people, anytime between the 10th and 17th as long as there is wind. Have room in the SUV for perhaps one other person, or can fit 3 more if I take the minivan.

Looking forward to an amazing trip, so excited!

Should be great times on and off the water. Looking forward to long sessions and downwinders in everything from monstrous waves to flat water. There is a hot tub at the house to soak the evenings away so we can do it all again the next day!

I am more than happy to teach and offer helpful tips while we are there. We will progress from whatever level you are at. We'll make sure the pricing is fair with plenty of individual instruction and time for practice. Gear is included with lessons. Just want to see everyone doing well and having fun.

There will be demo gear available for everyone to ride as well.

I received a call today but the voicemail came through broken, and the phone number did not show up on my phone. I believe it was Anderson from madison, could you please call me again. We do still have some rooms available but they are starting to go fast!

Hi All,

I'm over Detroit way and planning to join you on the trip to Hatteras for the last week 17th to 24th (or thereabouts).

For anyone who is planning to drive around those dates it might be worth a chat about seeing if there's a chance to share the ride...

Stephen/Amanda,

Do you still have any rooms available? Me and possibly a friend are looking for a place to stay for 4 nights from 10/14 - 10/19.

I'm getting excited for the trip, it is going to be here in no time. Most rooms are booked up but here is what is left if anyone is still thinking about it.

October 3rd-8th have some availability, and then the Pullout couch is open the 20th-24th. That's it everything else is filled up.

Incredibly excited about this trip! Looking forward to an awesome crew coming from the Midwest, super fun conditions and a beautiful area.

Thanks Bob for the welcoming invites and super useful information about where to ride. Looking forward to seeing you and riding with your crew soon!

Cory and Nicole, you guys rock. I've learned from them to expect any and all conditions. Bring all the equipment you have and a full range of wetsuit gear. It may be in the 50s if it's a Northerly or in the 80s from the South. Conditions change daily so expect the unexpected.

We still have rooms available if anyone would like to join us. We have a room in our house Oct 3 - 8 and Oct 20 - 24. I think Artem still has a room available Oct 9 -16. viewtopic.php?t=9308

I have plenty of availability for teaching lessons. Please let me know if you are interested and we can arrange a great deal for you. Will be great to see everyone's progression!

Tons of gear will be there as well all available to demo. Always fun to switch off kites or boards for awhile to feel the difference. Please feel free to ask anytime.

Looking forward to seeing you there! Crazy fun times ahead, yooooohooooooooo!

Happy Kiting!

Hatteras

Post by Kevin » Sat Oct 02, 2010 6:33 am

In Hatteras now, leaving today. In spite of some of some messed up weather (rain, t-storms), we managed to kite each of the last five days.

A word of caution, watch out for the jellyfish. I got stung a little and my buddy got stung real bad, said he felt like he was being electrocuted. Water was warm (Soundside) so we didn't wear wetsuits all week, but probably a good idea. If you don't, at least wear something tight fitting under your boardshorts, you don't want to get stung in places where you really don't want to get stung.

Hopefully will be a lot better by the time you guys get down here. And maybe we were just unlucky, as most other people we talked to hadn't had problems with the jellies.

It is a beautiful place here. You get spoiled by the Sound, not looking forward to going back to Lake Michigan. Have an awesome trip everyone and stay safe!

Post by windjunkie » Tue Oct 05, 2010 2:05 pm

Hi Artem/Amanda/Bob, looking for a room night of Oct 15 thru 18th. I will in NC for work and plan to get a few days of kiteboarding in. Anderson is bringing my gear down. Do any of you have anything left?
